Jeff and Leanne Watson began raising and handling bears in 1988 with Jeff being the head trainer and daily caregiver for the bears. Leanne has done her fair share of getting her hands dirty while assisting Jeff, but her contribution to running the business end of J&L Bruins has most definitely been a solo act.

Sadly, Leanne Marie Watson passed away at the young age of 41 on December 11, 2008. Jeff has continued to raise and handle bears without his life partner and friend, but for him, there is, and always will be, a feeling of loneliness and incompleteness as he finishes this journey called life.
